Audrey Locane, Registered Social Worker, Associate Therapist at Leanne Sawchuk Psychotherapy

Hi, I am Audrey. I am part of Leanne's care team, and I work with teens and adults virtually across Ontario.

If you are here, there is a good chance you have been carrying a lot on your own for a long time. Maybe your relationship with food or your body has become exhausting. Maybe your mind never slows down. Maybe you are in a season of life that has left you feeling like a stranger to yourself.

Whatever brought you here, I am glad you are here.

Therapy should not be a place where you have to earn compassion.

You should not have to justify why you are struggling, or arrive with your reasons neatly organised. You do not even have to know what you want to talk about. We can just sit in whatever it is, together.

“Therapy is not about fixing yourself. It is about creating space to better understand yourself.”

We work with curiosity, not criticism.

So much of what brings people to therapy is not really about the thing on the surface. Food and body concerns are almost always about far more than food and bodies. The overthinking is protecting something. The perfectionism started somewhere. Together, we explore not only what is happening now, but the experiences that shaped how you see yourself, your relationships, and the world around you.

My connection to this work is both professional and personal.

Growing up, I watched people I love struggle with their relationship to food and their bodies, and I saw what that cost them. Like many women, I have navigated my own version of those pressures and expectations. That history is why I do this work, and it is why I hold it with humility rather than authority. I am not here to lead the way. I am here to walk beside you.

Over the past decade, I have worked across community and social service settings, supporting people through some of the most complex seasons of their lives. What I have learned is that no one heals by being told what is wrong with them. People heal when they finally feel safe enough to be honest, and curious enough to look at what is underneath.

You are more than your struggles. Your experiences make sense in the context of your life. Healing does not require perfection, and it does not happen on a schedule. We move at a pace that feels right for you.

Reaching out can be the hardest step. Whether you are looking for healing, clarity, or simply a place to feel understood, I would be honoured to walk alongside you.

You do not have to earn compassion here.

Come exactly as you are.

“Growth happens through compassion, not criticism.”

Who I work with.

I work with teens and adults who are tired of being at war with themselves, and ready for something gentler.

Disordered Eating & Food Concerns

When your relationship with food has become a full-time job. The rules, the guilt, the cycle of restriction and rebellion, the exhaustion of thinking about it constantly. This work is weight-inclusive and never about shrinking you. It is about helping you understand what the relationship has been protecting you from, and building something more peaceful in its place.

Body Image & Self-Worth

The voice that measures you against an impossible standard and always finds you lacking. Years of self-criticism dressed up as self-improvement. We work toward a relationship with your body that is not conditional on how it looks.

ADHD & Neurodivergence

The exhaustion of masking. The shame of systems that were never designed for how your brain works. Your neurodivergence is not something to be fixed. We work from your strengths, honour what you actually need, and build a life that fits you rather than the other way around.

Anxiety & Overthinking

A mind that will not slow down. The bracing, the scanning, the constant low hum of something being wrong. We make room for the discomfort instead of fighting it, so it stops running the show.

Perfectionism & People-Pleasing

The emotional weight of meeting everyone else's expectations except your own. Being the reliable one, the easy one, the one who never asks for anything. It made sense once. It is costing you now.

Life Transitions

Seasons that leave you disconnected from who you were. New roles, new identities, endings you did not choose. We slow down and make sense of the shift instead of rushing you through it.

Pregnancy & Postpartum

The identity shift nobody warns you about. Changes to your body, your relationships, and your sense of self, alongside the pressure to feel nothing but grateful. There is room here for all of it.

How I Work

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to this work. I draw from a range of evidence-based frameworks, but the most important part of therapy is the relationship we build together. Everything else follows from that.

01

Collaborative

I am not here to lead the way, and I will not hand you a diagnosis and a plan. We figure this out together. You know your life better than I ever will, and my role is to bring curiosity and clinical skill alongside what you already know.

02

Values-Led

Rather than waiting for life to feel easier before moving forward, we get clear on what actually matters to you. Then we ask a question that guides everything: what kind of life do you want to build, and what small step can you take toward it today?

03

Trauma-Informed

Your reactions, patterns, and coping strategies make sense in the context of what you have lived through. We move at your pace, we do not push past what feels safe, and nothing about you gets treated as a problem to be corrected.

04

Weight-Inclusive

I approach food, body image, and health from a weight-inclusive lens. Your wellbeing cannot be measured by your appearance, and this work will never be about making you smaller.

05

Neurodiversity-Affirming

Neurodivergence is not something that needs fixing. Instead of working toward expectations that were never built for you, we understand your needs, honour your strengths, and build systems that actually support your life.
